The Post Material Handling Drum Conditioner will break up the most difficult materials. The arms repeatable compress the contents while still in the drum, making them easy to remove for processing. Several options are available to fit a tight budget or a full featured conditioning and discharging system.
Post Drum Conditioner base unit.
The Drum Conditioner base unit will apply a great degree of pressure to the outside surface of a drum to break up highly compacted powders. The base unit consists of two compression arms, compression power actuator, PLC control system with a pneumatic power system and a universal mounting plate. The Post Conditioner is a sanitary design constructed of 304 stainless steel with a #4 finish. FDA approved slot cover. Reversible compression arms for two point or four point compression. The universal mounting plate can mount the Post Drum Conditioner to a fixed support, a mobile cart, a mobile lift or a stationary Post Lift with discharging capabilities. A safety input is provided to connect to a user supplied mechanical safety gate. Post can provide mechanical gates or light curtains as an option.
Post Drum Conditioner stationary stand
The Post Drum Conditioner stationary stand anchors to the floor and has a universal mounting plate to support the Drum Conditioner base unit. It is manufactured from 304 Stainless steel with a sanitary #4 finish on all surfaces. This option is not required if wall mount or the Post Lift option is selected.
Drum Conditioner LIFTING Post
The Drum Conditioner Lifting Post will raise and lower the arms to apply pressure at different elevations of the drum.
The Post Lift can be mounted on an optional mobile base for portable operation. The combination of the rotating base and the Post Lift will assure that pressure is applied to all possible points on the drum.
Drum conditioner rotating platform
The rotating platform for Drum Conditioners will index in 15 or 30 degree increments to apply distributed pressure to the drum surface. The drum is placed onto the rotating platform prior to starting and is automatically controlled by the Drum Conditioner base unit’s control system. The rotation platform is manufactured from 304 stainless steel and has a #4 finish on all surfaces.
The slewing Post Lift
The slewing Post Lift is used to discharge the contents of the drum after the material has been broken to size. The Drum Conditioner arms securely clamp the drum in place, lift and slews the material over downstream equipment then inverts the drum to discharge it’s contents.
Drum Conditioner lump breaker arms
Drum Conditioner lump breaker arms penetrate hardened powders at the core of the drum and break up hardened material. The lump breaker arms simultaneously squeeze the drum surface for optimum product conditioning. The lump breaker arms require the Post Lift option to function. The lump breaker arms are manufactured from 316 stainless steel for product contact and have a #4 finish on all surfaces.
The Drum Conditioner Mobile Platform
The Drum Conditioner Mobile Platform allows the Drum Conditioner to be moved to the process area where the drums reside. (4) casters on the frame are provided for easy movement. The rear casters swivel for easy control and lock to stop motion when the Drum Conditioner is in operation. The Mobile Platform is manufactured from 304 stainless steel and has a #4 finish.
Drum conditioner safety light curtain
A safety light curtain can be used in place of mechanical guarding to inhibit operation if an operator approaches the Post Drum Conditioner during operation. The Drum Conditioner will immediately stop and only resume when the area is clear and the reset button is pressed. An aluminum frame with acrylic panels will provide guarding while leaving full access for loading.
Mechanical guard door
The Post Drum Conditioner will break up compacted material so it can be removed and handled. It will also lift and tilt the drum so the contents can be weighed out and dispensed into smaller containers. The compression arms are also grippers to allow raising a variety of drums, including tapered drums. The arms have position and pressure control allowing the drum conditioner to automatically determine the size of the drum and adjust the pressure accordingly. Larger drums receive a higher compression force.
Stainless steel sanitary drum conditioner in the pallet jack configuration
The pallet jack configuration allows drums to be conditioned directly on a pallet. The all stainless steel sanitary pallet conditioner is positioned by your in house pallet jack, eliminating the need for a mobile cart. It is battery powered and fully rechargeable. The pallet configuration of the drum conditioner breaks up two drums simultaneously. The video below demonstrates how it operates.
Stainless steel sanitary drum conditioner configured to break up difficult materials in drums on pallets. A standard pallet jack is used to position the drum conditioner across the drums. The arms will break up the contents of two drums simultaneously.
A safety rated switch is be used on the guard door to disable the Post Drum Conditioner when open. The mechanical guard is manufactured from Aluminum and clear acrylic. The safety switch integrates into the Drum Conditioner control system to monitor and disable the equipment.
Several options are available for drum conditioner arm contact. Arms can easily be removed and replaced for different sizes of drums and materials. Arms can be flipped over to achieve different contact points.
Drum Conditioner with four straight points of contact
Drum compression arms with four points of straight contact apply even breaking pressure across the height drum.
The same compression arms in the reverse position for two points of contact.
Drum compression arms with two points of straight contact apply more concentrated pressure to the drum.
Drum Conditioner with Four Points of Angled Contact
Drum compression arms with four points of angled pressure apply concentrated pressure to the periphery of a drum.
Drum conditioner with eight points of angled contact
Drum compression arms with eight points of angled contact applies pressure at two elevations along the periphery of the drum.
Drum conditioner with eight points of contact on a plastic drum
Removal of compacted materials in plastic drums is a common application of the Post drum conditioner. The taper of the drum as well as its strength makes product discharge from plastic drums an easy task.
This is a test of the drum conditioner four point compression arms on potassium chloride. It broke up the material well. The core was broken into a fine powder. There were a few lumps on the top of the drum. The rotational indexer would not benefit as the material is thoroughly conditioned.
The drum conditioner arms will raise to compresse the drum at several elevations. The standard attachment plate allows the drum conditioner to be attached to a Post Lift, a mobile cart, mobile lift, and an inverting axis for drum discharge directly from the drum conditioner.
This video is a test of the Post drum conditioner on potassium chloride. It is an extremely difficult material to remove from a drum. The drum conditioner broke it into small, easy to manage pieces.
The light weight drum conditioner shown below is also available where moderate drum pressure is required
The Drum Conditioner makes non-flowing materials manageable and easy to process.
The Mobile Conditioner breaks apart compacted drums of powder to make them manageable for downstream processing.
The Drum Conditioner is designed to be portable and can be located to the processing area.
Four articulated compression pads and two stationary rear compression pads will apply pressure to the drum, breaking up the contents. The compression pressure and speed are adjustable to suite your material.
Three equally space paddles will squeeze plastic or fiber drum breaking up its contents. The six paddle design will deliver central, even pressure to the drum.
The height of the compressing pads are adjustable to suite both short and tall drums and the compression arms can be set for both large diameter and small diameter drums.
The machine is completely wash-down with NEMA 4X controls. The Mobile Drum Compressor was designed specifically for use in the Pharmaceutical industry.
